![]() ![]() ![]() The Lamplighters League is a Metaparallel in the sense that it is a story about ruthless, dangerous, self-serving and violent individuals who end up using their willingness to get their hands dirty without hesitation in order to fight for a greater good, because it must be done for various reasons. ![]() a character who spreads chaos to entertain themselves, but who is also very entertaining for the reader) Harebrained Schemes' The Lamplighters League is an uncanny case of what, I, in my brainstorming as a Tumblr-certified Hysterical Pseudointellectual™, have called a "Metaparallel" a piece of fiction or part of a piece which serves a similar role within its own fictional universe, as it does when a real person looks at the story from an analytical perspective. Is the symbolism heavy-handed, if it’s on lightweight tarot cards? THE LAMPLIGHTERS LEAGUE REVIEW - The Beauty of Imperfection (Light Spoilers) At its standard price, you can buy other, far superior games for 49,99 euros. I would have given the game a mixed review, if Steam decided to give us a third option, other than "thumbs up" or "thumbs down", but as it stands, I cannopt reccomend, in good conscience, that you buy an abandoned game.Īssuming you find it HEAVILY discounted, as part of some bundle perhaps, you could give it a go. The game was not perfect, the "stealth" portion was clunky, the battles not terribly exciting, it felt unecessarily heavy and slow for some reason, but it oozed atmosphere and I am confident Harebrained could have improved it, at least supported it long enough to make those of us who put our trust in their (and Paradox's) track record not feel entirely duped. I doubt that we'll ever learn (apart from what one might sumize from the vague, marketing excuses included in "the final patch" update) what led them to treat their paying custimers in this way, but I do hope that this debacle is not forgotten. This is, quite simply, shameful behavior. A game that launched for 50 euros, with Day One DLC, is getting entirely abandoned 60 days later, while Paradox retains the rights to it (but severing any contact with the community), meaning that the League is effectively dead. ![]()
